Okay well first off I'd like to clearify a few things.
    I use AVG free.
Second this was happening in Windows XP with me, on a whole separate computer and it happens on this new computer with windows 7.

Problem: New tab wont ever load, just sits there acting like it loads, but nothing happens at all.

Semi Annoying Get Arround: I just middle click 4-5 tabs of the same thing open in hope that one of them will work.

Scary Thing: IE8 isn't in beta anymore, and I'm sure they had to experience this if I'm experiencing it on 2 separate computers with different OS's

Seems to happen: over time, because IE8 on this fresh instal of Windows7 was doing great, but over time I started to see the same thing I dreaded on my XP, and I thought maybe in XP it just didn't have a smooth transfer from IE7 to 8, but I guess I was wrong.

What I think: It must be their wanna-be chrome situation of "having it's own process" and "using shared resources"
Why I think that: Well first off if I restart I normally dont have this problem until IE has been used more and opend for a while. Second, if I start a new window of IE it is screwed up as well as the other window, thus it's got to be the shared resources or something : \

I can only hope Windows realizes their fault here and fixes it sometime....
But still after all this time... still no fix.

    Exactly Same Problem

Same problem... any solution? I've tried these, but had no success:
    1. install and uninstall
    2. disable "Quick tabs" running IE8 as administrator
    3. running in No Add-On mode

Try disabling "SSV HelperClass" Add-On, go to Tools, Manage Add-Ons.HTH.

Guys, I just installed Win7 and already having the same exact problem. Clicking a link will just open a new blank window or a new blank tab, and it just sits there. Clicking stop/refresh instantly works and the page will open. I tried disabling all addons, smart filter, popup blocker, but nothing works.

    Hi och,
Try this and see whether it helps,
IE8 slow? Maybe this tweak will help

Though it say's speed up IE8, it may rectify other problems as well, read the comments to see how it worked for others http://windowsfixup.com/2009/03/spee...et-explorer-8/

I have seen some positive results on this issue with registry setting changes. Try the following commands:

    regsvr32 IEPROXY.DLL

    regsvr32 URLMon.dll

    It helped us....
