Should be in the "Sent items" or if failing then it should be in the "Outbox"

All outgoing mail should be in "Outbox" until it has been successfully sent. If it fails to go out it remains in the "Outbox" folder.

Solved Windows Live Mail 421 email error - unexpected failure" message

    3-21-11
Description of solved problem: When using Windows Live Mail every now and then an outgoing message would get blocked and the Norton "421 email error - unexpected failure" message would appear.

Problem solved: 3-21-11 Turn off (unchecked) the Norton Internet Security (NIS) outgoing email scan located in Network Protection - email protection. No idea why WLM and NIS can't get along. So many possiblities so little time.

On a new Toshiba i5 laptop I am using the latest versions of x64Windows 7 Home, Windows Live Mail (WLM) and Norton Internet Security 2011 (NIS) v18.5.0.125. I am also using Mozella becuse Firefox is faster then Internet Explorer Web browser that I had problems with right out of the box when I loaded 2010 Office Professional Plus.

Ought to be interesting to see how IE 9 compairs to Firefox 4 that was released today.

    Background detail:
Here's what happen. The x64? NIS Outgoing Email Scan (OES) was stopping the transmittal of correct address, simple text, no attachment/s messages. I would get the NIS "421 email error - unexpected failure" message. So we opened the Norton Control Panel and unchecked the outgoing email scan - and that was it. I know this because we tested it on our two email accounts by sending several messages from the Windows 7 laptop via WLM to the old Dell XT laptop. And the instent we turned the Norton OES back-on we got the 421 error message.

Also using a new Cisco Valet Plus long range router the is very friendly. Via wifi it easily supports our two laptops, an HP 210a wireless Photosmart Printer/Scanner and the iPod touch 4.
