How to change the default "Save Picture as" directory for IntExp 8?

When I load a web page with embedded images, then right click on one of these images and select "Save picture as..." then as default save directory

    libraries->pictures

is presented in the file open dialog. Ok, I can manually change this to another folder in the file open dialog. But how can I change this default directory (permanently even after a restart) to lets say D:\work?

    Hi,

You need to edit the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

There you will see all the different situations like disc burning, cookies, along with Pictures. Just edit the location to be the default you want and it will start saving whatever you changed (eg pictures) to that location.

    Hope it helps :)

    Suggestion:

Install Firefox. It always remembers where you saved the last image.

In both IE or Firefox it is a good idea to NOT allow it auto change size of images. If it does then the images can be small and grainy or blurred when saved.

You can google and find out how to do this.

Why would this be a solution/suggestion? What if the OP can't use anything else? What if the OP doesn't want multiple browsers (like me)? Would you like your mechanic to tell you to buy a new car when the oil needs to be changed?

Besides, my IE remembers my default save-to location.

    Hi,
    It's been a while but I don't believe Windows x-p has Libraries

So please verify your Operating system and Browser version,
In most versions of Internet explorer Alt+HA will provide that information or Menubar/ Help/ about ie,
    Click Start and type,
    system
And click on "system information" will show the rest,
You have less than a month until support for x-p ends,
But for the most part you can reset ie8... in the same manner to fix common issues,

    Hi,
One reason is I didn't reply to you or look at your limited system spec's either,
The person that asked the question is showing x-p
Which you should also use the link above my signature
And provide which security suite and other third party utilities/ toolbars you have installed,
ie8 is not really compatible with win-7,
ie9 is better than ie8 although ie10 is ideal,
    Cheers.

Since IE8 IE creates new processes for each tab, so it does not remember location for images. You can edit the registry to set the default yourself. It will onlt then save to that particular folder by default. As always, we must warn about editing the registry. Make sure you have a registry backup, or complete system image.

    Registry - Backup and Restore

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

Start> In search box type regedit> Enter> Navigate to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Right click on My Pictures to change the default path
