I ran it again, and it completed but didn't score well at all. Maybe it's due to my old hardware. I also ran it in 10.63, where it did about the same, so I'm fairly sure that the hardware is the difference.
seekermeister- Just days before I got my Win 7 x64 computer 3 months ago I tested Opera 10.60 using my HP Vista x86 laptop and received this result...

Yes, you're right he Peacekeeper scores primarily reflect the build quality of the computer that they are being run on and so comparisons between makes or builds of browsers should be done on the same computer for the most accurate results. As an example heres how Opera 10.61 scored on my Win 7 x64 computer just weeks later...

and here's how Opera 11 Alpha compares to Opera 10.61 as tested on the same Win 7 computer...

The difference is not just whether the computer is W7 x64, because mine is also, but of an older ilk. Can't be certain, but I suspect that it is due to the graphics card...at least mostly.

Yes, that's what I meant by...

My desktop computer that has Win 7 also scores 3X higher on the Passmark benchtests than the laptop which runs Vista and has 600% slower dual core processing, slower DDR2 RAM and a vastly inferior video card which is what is making the largest difference in the scores.

    :)
Congrats you have arrived at the correct conclusion.
Might have found out sooner if you had visited the Statistics link from your Peacekeeper results page.
Peacekeeper - The Browser Benchmark from Futuremark Corporation
How can I get a higher score?

Other than the browser itself, the most significant factor affecting the Peacekeeper score is the type of CPU in your PC. That said, Peacekeeper is designed to compare the relative performance of different browsers on your PC.
There is a chart on the statistics page showing the relative performance of different Processor's.
Of course if you overclock your PC you get higher scores mine is a Intel Core i7-920 Processor overclocked to 3.GHz .
I have found that running Peacekeeper on a new install of Opera gives a higher score, one of the 10.70 builds gave me a score of 15250 but several subsequent runs were around 14500 to 14850.
The Alpha release of OP11 is not any faster than the last three 10.70 builds but the extensions rock & I love the new installer being able to install to a USB drive as a Portable installation is great

All the browsers I tested were the latest available last week

In the Peacekeeper benchmarks that I have run with both Opera 10.70 and 11.00 Alpha which has the latest and greatest Presto 2.6.37 Opera 11 Alpha consistently scores much higher using my Win 7 x64 Intel with Core i7 930 2.93 GHz processing which has not been overclocked.

I respect the comparative results that you have gotten at Peacekeeper, but I can not ignore the overwhelming evidence that Opera 11 Alpha is decidedly faster than both v10.6 and v10.7 in the results that I have gotten there...

Peacekeeper seriously needs to update their statistics page! A lot has happened since Opera 10.50 Beta!

I Wonder what build number of 10.70 you were running. There have been twenty releases of Opera 10.70 , that might explain it if you was running an older build compared to me.

Opera Desktop Team - An Important piece of the puzzle

Even if you was comparing the latest 10.70 build against Opera 11 alpha there are probably plenty of obscure reasons or quirks that could cause a build to run slowly.
When i benchmark The latest Chrome releases for some weird reason they alternate between fast around 13,600 & slow around 7500.
I have never heard of it happening to anyone else it's just my PC.

I started a thread about it on the Peacekeeper forums back in May,
Peacekeeper have recently updated the other browsers but forgotten all about Opera

Thanks for the link! On the chart they list Chrome 7.0.5 right along with Opera 10.50 Beta so it seems as though they have forgotten Chrome also.

These are the list of the Opera 10.70 versions that I have run as I switched mid stream from the Opera 10.60 series and after a considerable amount of digging through my records the highest Peacekeeper benchmark I recorded for Opera 10.70 was b9044 with Presto 2.6.34...

I apologize that I can not get Opera 11 Alpha to run slower than Opera 10.70 maybe there's a problem with my computer's Intel Core i7 930 2.93 GHz processing or its 8 GB of DDR 3 RAM, but the very consistent Peacekeeper Benchmarks show that Opera 11 Alpha with Presto 2.6.37 is faster than any version of Opera 10.70 in every benchmark up to and including b9071.
