    Favorites Icon problem

I have downloaded internet explorer icons for my favorites that do not have icons. I have also changed the default icon from the e to the globe on a per favorite basis (not globally) and have not made it the default icon. The problem I am having is when I export my favorites then import them to another computer the icons for which I have custom icons and the ones I changed to the globe are displaying the e icon. My ico files are in the Windows/System32 folder, and I have copied these icons into the Windows/System32 folder of the new machine, but no luck in getting these icon images to transfer to the new machine. I am using IE version 8.0 and my windows 7 is 32 bit.

Hello Charlie, I believe you'd need to manually change the icons on the new PC as well. The new icon path info isn't stored in the shortcut itself. When you import them to a new machine, they must be pointed to the new icon again. A Guy

Thank you for the reply. That is what I figured. With over 200 favorites I guess it is not worth the time. Luckily the icons which are displayed on the websites in the url window do transfer automatically to the new machine.

Yes, but be aware those favicons will change to generic IE icons if you clean your temp files. A Guy

Are you talking temp internet files? I did clean them out and the custom icons are still there.
