I use ACDsee and with the 2011 version of Live Mail, I've had the same problem.
I did as Roncerr said. Once on the message page, I click on one of the photo and the tab "Format" appears, then click the paperclip in "Album Styles" to change photo e-mail to one with attachments. You still change the size (not many choices but enough for me).
I've tried it and it work like the old one.

The portion of the above post (quoted from "...winston" at the annexcafe/Windows Live Mail Newsgroup on 11/2/10) that includes the phrase you mentioned is in the 2nd paragraph below but I think the first paragraph is for the right-click option while the second applies to adding photos to the email you are composing:

Separately from using Explorer with the Right click options...since folks do wish to attach pics when composing new messages in WLM 2011 (when signed on to Windows Live with a Live ID)
- To avoid any 'convert to Photo e-mail interference'....uncheck the WLM 2011 option to 'Convert messages to Photo e-mails when adding photos' on the program's settings Compose tab(ALT F O M)..."
Hi, why do the photos, that I send with Windows Live Mail, end up on Sky Drive looking blurry and out of focus and with a terrible resolution. Sky Drive ruins the appearance of the beautiful photos that I want to share. Is there a solution, or does Sky Drive stink as well as Windows Live Mail 2011?

I made myself a Dummy Text file to include and delete with WLM and it works perfectly just like OE did.
Makes you wonder why MS make something simple to do and use like in OE and then create a convoluted way of doing the same thing?
ms should supply an option as a solution, but yours is elegant & works. thanx again.
I'm so proud of myself - I stumbled upon the solution!
Like everyone else, I was frustrated by not being able to easily send re-sized photos as attachments in e-mails, as opposed to skydrive
but i figured out how to do it, easily
Right-click on the selected photos as usual, select send to mail recipient and re-size as wanted
Once it comes up as a photo e-mail – here's the trick - hit view slideshow in the e-mail window
A Photo album tools tab will now appear. Hit the format tab. Click on the paper-click (attachment) icon, and they will now be switched to attachments, at their re-sized resolutions
2 or 3 simple clicks and you're done

Sky drive has to go, it is not needed. What MS has done can account for only one thing. SPYING on pictures sent through the internet. If not we would be able to deactivate the program and have a choice. I tried for weeks to return to the standard way of sending emails with no luck. Finally I loaded live mail 2009 XP and I was happy again. Now within the last week MS change the code, put the change in a update, SKYDRIVE is back.... I have my own server and I don't want it or need it!
Looking for a new email client, MSN will not be my home page anymore, looking for a new IE.
