Are they still performing that stupid trick ?
It isn't a "trick". It tells you that it will install over your old browser on the install page.
No it is not on the initial page its buried in the release notes
And if you visit Internet Explorer 9 Test Drive & download from there there is no warning

This download is for Windows Internet Explorer 9 Beta for Windows 7, Windows 7 SP1 Beta only. To download Internet Explorer 9 Beta for other supported versions of Microsoft Windows:

Hey guys I am using IE9 and I am having problems with Gmail. When I click anything like compose mail or reply or forward or anything even when I click settings the page shows loading at the top and nothing ever happens. This is in standard view. Now if I switch to basic HTML everything works. Anyone know whats wrong? Thanks

Thanks for the info i actually like IE9 more than IE8 but I deplore the lack of basic information on the download page.
IE 8 & IE9 are pretty decent browsers & would suit a lot of my friends who are more into phones & texting than PC's.
I only use IE9 for testing .
Opera is my Browser of choice a far more capable browser if you learn how to use it properly.

Delete the first part of the url and use the rest if you want the 64-bit version: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...s7-x64-enu.exe

A quick Google search reveals that you are not alone. I didn't see any solutions however. Perhaps we will have to wait for MS and/or Google to squash this particular bug...

Slow IE9 start/new tabs, bug.

hi folks

been using ie9 since its release...

really liked the way you can mess around and 'tuck in' floating windows into tabs.

now one thing that really, really is buggin me off is its start.

whenever i start it off, it takes no less than 14 seconds to get me to my startpage (google.com)

also it takes a hell load of time to open a new tab or any link to a new window.
(im using a laptop - Q9000 2.0GHz+4Gb 1066MHz+GTX 280M, i refuse to have anything slower than 'instant')

noteworthy also is a strange bug involving password field (java):

on this banking site: https://www2.bancobrasil.com.br/aapf/login.jsp?flag=1

if you type anything on the 'password field' it will type 2 digits/strikes instead of only one. going compatibility mode doesnt work.

any help with any one of those items?

thx in advance.

I found ie9 works much better with Gmail if you put it in compatibility view. Go to Gmail and click on the icon that looks like a torn sheet of paper next to the refresh button.
