Windows live mail fails to stop spam.

Since the last upgrade of windows live mail; It has stopped catching spam. Even though I mark spam, it never seems to remember it and allows spam to pass. Windows live offers no support in this area. Is there a way to install outlook express on windows 7 and then I can install a third party anti spam?

Click the icon at top left and then under Options select Safety Options. Lots of configuration in the various tabs.

I have the same problem and have my settings set to high (as before the upgrade).

Are you saying I should change it to No Automatic Filtering?

No, That is where I have mine set. Just review all the options and see what may work for you.

Okay, Ive tried the various options, but it still lets all junk into my inbox.

    Any ideas?

Edit: Meant to add that the exact same setting (i.e High) worked perfectly on the previous version

Mine also worked perfectly before and was and still is set to HIGH and yet spam still passes through. Even spam that I mark as spam passes through. I use MS security essentials.

I managed to sort the junk mail problem by switching to Thunderbird where junk mail seems to be filtered perfectly (so far anyway).

Probably not the answer you wanted, but it's one solution

Another solution is switching email providers. Like Gmail, yahoo.

I use my ISP e-mail. Webmail is not my style. I finally got used to live mail and now have this annoying problem. What's up with MS? Are they on mushrooms?????

As well as my ISP email, I also use Gmail and Live.com (Hotmail). I'd rather not send emails from either of those services as they like to put a message on the email that, even though I'm sending using the email address from my ISP, says you're sending this email from Gmail/Live.com. No thanks.

Thunderbird is working just fine as far as junk mail goes with the added benefit that I can now add or delete events in my Google Calendar right from within Thunderbird using the Lightning extension. Live Mail was only capable of accessing the Google Calendar as read only.

Whether it's Thunderbird or Live Mail, it's just software and I'll use the one that works for me and at the moment, that's Thunderbird.

Thanks for the help and suggestions though :)
