Browsers stop working after win7 restart

This is a really strange problem. My browsers will not connect but skype and aim work fine. This seems to happen on system startup and if the system goes into idle mode.

Basically after shutdown, reset or the system goes into idle mode. I have to disable my Local connection then repair it before my browsers will work... Interesting thing is that Skype and AIM both work fine...

    WTF?

I don't think this was happening until I installed cable dsl but who knows for sure I changed connectivity and computer at almost the same time... doesn't seem like its connectivity because skype and aim still work.

I was using firefox and It is a clean boot

This problem is across all browsers and happens after system goes idle or after clean boot.

Am I talking to a bot? I just said in the post above it happens (fails) after a clean boot.

OK, I just updated my original post too, seems that ANY restart of any kind or drop to idle mode causes browsers to stop functioning... so wierd.... skype and aim work fine.

In the device manager, go into the properties of your NIC and make sure that it's power saving options are disabled.

Also check to see that the browsers aren't slipping into 'work offline' mode (it's under the FILE menu.)

Browsers aren't slipping into offline mode... if the NIC was getting disabled then skype and aim would not work.

Makes sense. Browsers are accessing a specific port on the remote web server. If your firewall is blocking outgoing requests to port 80 that would prevent webserver access. Test by turning off any firewalls including Windows Firewall on your pc and the one in your router.
