    Pop-ups

I am having trouble clicking on links within email or websites and nothing happens. I have a desktop with XP and whenever I clicked it would ask if I wanted to accept the pop-up but with Windows 7 nothing. For example to register they sent an email with a link to finish the registration. I click and nothing so I copied the link and put into the browser and it works. What do I need to do to accept some of these pop-ups? I am not a really good technical person I just know enough to be dangerous.

Just a thought, have you tried pushing the Ctrl button at the same time?

    Welcome,
    Several things to try
    First if on IE

    Tools
    Internet options
    Advanced
    Reset

    If this does not work
Then you may want to try another browser.
Firefox or Chrome would be good choices.

As a work-around, until you get the problem sorted out, you can right-click on the link and select: Open. Not perfect, but it's a little easier than copying the link and pasting it into the address bar.

    Pop ups

Well I have tried all the suggestions and nothing worked. Could the problem be in the virus protection program I have? I have Webroot right now and it came with the laptop so I have never used this before. Could this be the problem and not Windows 7? Thanks for all your suggestions and help. I may have to take this back to Best Buy to have the Geek Squad take care of the problem. :)

Have you tried the default programs dance: Got to "Default Programs", use the last option "...computer defaults", "custom". Now check off you choices for mail and browser (NOT "use my current..."). That may fix it for a while.
