How much memory does your browser use?
I'm running the latest version of Google Chrome. It is only using 33 MB with several tabs open. I wash shocked when I saw that it was that low.

I use firefox and it uses far less RAM than I have installed in my machine. It's about 90MB right now with a few different tabs open. No biggie.
FF is chewing 200~300 MB around times with about 3~5 tabs opened for me.

mine doesn't use a fixed amount - it changes all the time depending on how many tabs i have open and what i'm doing in them.
Are you sure you are including the memory the tabs are using ?
In Google enter about:memory into the address bar
A bonus is it will also tell you the memory other browsers are using. Its fairly complicated
so read this first
Memory Usage Backgrounder - The Chromium Projects
Opera 11 Alpha 2 opens at 33.5 MB RAM, 46.6 MB RAM with one tab open and 80.3 MB RAM with 5 tabs open.
