Vista to window7 email transition problem(s)

Well, my laptop with Vista just crashed. My new laptop comes with Windows7.

My main objective to reinstate the Windows Mail that is hidden in the hard drive. I used the following tutorial;Windows Mail

Unfortunately that did not work. I tried to the best I can, but ultimately, when I hit that launch "Windows Mail" icon, everything just stalled out, using all my computer's RAM and CPU resources endlessly. I would love to get Windows Mail on here, ...but I have tried so many times with no luck.

Can anyone guess why my computer may be stalling out after this process??

    Go to your old email.
    Go to file
    Import and export
Then export to a finger drive etc
Then import to the new email

Which old email?? My Vista machine crashed, so I can't access the Windows Mail, ...I can only retrieve the data files from the hard drive.

I transferred those files to the Win7 desktop, and tried importing them into Windows Live Mail, ...but it won't even display those files anywhere. I'm at my wits end here!

If its crashed the only thing I know is to take the HD and put in another computer. Sorry.

Noy2014, just a tip. In the link you posted, scroll down to post #6. It is absolutely critical that you follow this tutorial to the letter. Good luck!

I just did re-did everything from scratch. I don't find the instructions all that difficult to follow. Once again, when attempting to launch the program, the CPU/RAM stalls out. I noticed in the Task Manager, that "winmail.exe*32" is attempting to run continuously for hundreds, even thousands of times.

    What can this indicate??

In researching my previous post, I believe I found the solution!!!!

ANSWER: 64 bit Window 7, REQUIRES the Windows Mail program from a 64 bit Vista machine!! It is a rare exception, and did the trick for me!!!

Have you tried running Startup Repair on your Vista laptop using the DVD Repair console or Vista Repair CD?

I believe the msoe.dll files posted in the tutorial are from a Vista machine after it was updated with a security update that caused problems at first. Now you must first apply the MS Windows Updates and then use those dlls.
