The short answer is Yes as long as it's the same edition as you have on your comp. and no you won't lose any of your installed prog's. All you want to do is get the file structure back as new

Some of the libraries are, and the manifest file are there, but there's no WinMail.exe file. You don't need Windows Mail added or hacked in just to install WLM 2011. If it was my system, I'd spend my efforts figuring out why WLM doesn't install.

If you look in Win Explorer under program files Window Mail is there, no it's not useable without hacking it in, but what he's refering to is he deleted that folder and now he can't install Windows Live Mail 2011. I think those files although not usable by themselve's were used by WLM 2011

1Bowtie, If I use another Windows 7 upgrade disk from another computer should I insert disk and reboot or...

Are the screen prompts to restore WM obvious or is it a minefield for potential missteps?

The other option for me may be to wait for SP1 which may fix the problem(s) and install Essentials Live 2011! -Thanks

There shouldn't be any prompts to restore WM. I think what you are doing is restoring all the system files for Windows 7 so that it will function properly again and allow you to install WLM (or perhaps uninstall and reinstall it) so that it works properly. (True, some of the system files can be hacked to "reinstate" WM but that is beside the point.)
