Disable Internet Explorer for specific user

Hello - is there a way to disable or otherwise block a specific user on my computer from accessing the internet? The only browser on there is IE8 and this user will not have the ability to download other browsers. The reason why I want to do this is not important - it just needs to be done. Use of other apps on the computer are fine - just don't want them to use my computer to get to the internet.

I have been thinking of using Local Policy settings but can't find how to do it with that. Maybe there is a way to block all http traffic. Open to whatever ideas there are.

    thanks

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Since you are using W7 Home Premium, some Group Policy settings will not work...
...but you are in luck, these settings will work

make the user an admin user
use user-level-IE-block.reg to block internet connectivity
make the user a standard user

There are two main settings in these reg files:
    1) set proxy (only impacts the one user):
...one sets the proxy in a way that won't get to the internet
...one that enables that proxy settings
    2) disable he ability to change the two settings above
(impacts all users, but other users' connectivity will not be impacted)

As the name implies, user-level-IE-unblock.reg will unblock internet connectivity.

To me the best way would be using a firewall to block the outgoing connections on ports 80 and 443 for every program except one that only admins can use. Besides IE, the standard user can bring a pendrive with a real browser inside (portable) and navigate from there. A firewall can block those too. Even the Windows built-in will suffice for this.
