Strange Days have found me - IE8

    Howdy,
I downloaded IE9 to try out. Running W7 Ultimate 64 bit. Decided to remove and go back to IE8. Everytime I go to download IE8 I get a message saying I should try IE9 and the installer does not list an IE8 version for Windows 7. Also the icons for the start list when pressed cause momentarily what looks like IE9 and then immediately disappears. So I have no IE. I've noticed that there is a lot of files and directory for IE in (x86) and Program files. I have not deleted these files and directories as yet, hoping that one of you gurus and steer me right. Thanks for any assistance.

Just uninstall IE9 following this tutorial and you'll have IE8 automatically back, no need to download it.

    Hey Kari,
Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately I may be into a grey area. Will the tutorial remove a partially removed IE9?

I would try it anyway. If it doesn't work, then I'll think your best bet is to use a system restore to an earlier point. Not too far back, just before you started to "experience" with removing IE9. Then uninstall it in a correct way.

    Hello Kari,
Partial success. That method seems to have worked generally. 9 is gone and IE8 is back. But I'm getting numerous script running errors as I'll indicate. Don't know what they mean or how to fix them. Thanks for getting me this far.

If Bill's link doesn't help, have a look here:

Object doesn't support this property or method

Also, download the Capt.'s IE Restorator, and register your correct version, if no help, try the rest button as well.

    Howdy A Guy,
Whats up? I somehow got the problem narrowed down to this issue on two threads. To be honest Bill's excellent advice is above my head. Jacee came up with a Microsoft Troubleshooting guide for IE8. Followed it and eventually reset defaults and bang, I am up and running.
Thanks as always for your knowledgeable and kind assistance.
