    - I have no knowledge of MS policy on this one, as I'm just the Average-Joe user, myself..
    - but, it seems to me that is the way it should be during the BETA phase..
    - after all, a good deal of the testing is done in the real world, using existing software technology
    - and while many apps and add-ins are being updated, some developers are using this as an opportunity to upgrade their products' capabilities during the change-over,
    - consequently some, like Adobe, are still BETA-testing their own updated 64-bit apps, etc..

    - for the present, if a site requires 32-bit to function correctly, as many still do - to autodefault to that system would be the best solution..

    - I haven't actually got a clue, but that's er, how it seems to me..
Hopefully when it goes final you'll get the option to set the 64 bit version as your browser of choice. There is nothing stopping you from using it now if you want to. Even IE8 has a 64 bit version if you are running the 64 bit version of windows 7. If you leave IE 9 64 bit open any links you click on will open in IE 64 bit. I'm not sure what happened in glenda17's case. I think if it was me I'd reinstall IE 9, or just wait for the next version. I had similar problems myself where after a while IE 9 32 bit stopped working and wouldn't open. IE 9 64 bit still worked, for a while and then it crashed too. I ended up going back to IE 8. This latest version though is working for me, I'm posting from it. :)

Aahhhh, tried to browse through the whole thread but haven't find that,or maybe I overlooked it.
Has anybody noticed that Internet Explorer 9 beta(IE9-beta) causes some unconsistencys with some of the desktop gadgets(most of them)?
For example,if you have installed sms-http gadget, and are used to send sms via it,if you see something interesting on the net(no matter what browser you are using at that particular moment),and decide to send that info or whatever to your friends phone(or yours) and click "Show Desktop" so you can see your gadget you want to use to send SMS,ther will be no gadget on the screen. It will automatically hide it after"show desktop".
I had that problem for quite long, and tried zillion of options, and then after a while,I read somewhere that I need to uninstall that IE9 beta, and since then, everything is fine, and I am waiting on the RTM version now.

Can't come soon enough, my install of IE9 & IE9x64 is buggy as hell, won't even open links from emails. Locks up about every 20 minutes, but its just a beta.

Welcome to the forum Glenda! Even though the latest IE release is coming soon, until then you still have to deal with your current IE beta download --- so you might try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. You may have just had a corrupted installation.

Why do you immediately assume it's a bug? xD
Be more specific, please :) Does it happen with other browsers?

The RC will only have bug fixes and small improvements in the GUI
