Latest Internet Explorer 9 Release

Oh my gosh, I think I may have been converted back to IE...
I stopped using it in 2007 and used firefox for a couple years and then safari, but oh my, IE9 is so pretty and so fast, I have my system underclocked to 803 mhz and loaded two identical pages with safari and IE9 and I gave safari a a five second headstart and ran it with IE9 at the same time, IE loaded it faster! WOW! WOW!

I quite like IE9 too. I seem to be using it all the time instead of Chrome 10, which I was addicted to. At its release, I had some issues with how fonts (particularly in GMail) were rendered, but now it seems that this has been sorted out. I find IE9 to be quick, streamlined. I have found though that my usage habit - like how I access my Favorites etc - had to be modified a bit.
One thing I do regret in IE9 is the lack of a native spell-check. But I am now using Speckie and it seems to be working ok. I do have a number of add-ons but they don't seem to have too much of an impact on the speed and performance of IE9...yet!

I have been using ieSpell for years and would be hard pressed to function without it... lol!
I have been having ongoing issues with IE8 not being able to access the resore tabs from last browing session even after I have tried several of the fixes that I am about ready to try IE9 in hopes of having better luck. Right now I am totally disgusted with IE.
I am not all that good with resolving issues if hit with a snafu, so I have been kind of dragging my feet on the install of IE9 after reading some of the posts here and there covering other people's install problems. What to do, what to do?!?!?

Just give it a shot. If you don't like it, you can always do a system restore (make sure you identify a suitable restore point), which will take you back to the problems you were/ are having with IE8. At least that way, you will be back in problems that you are at least familair with....

When IE 9 went on here all settings were automatically picked up from the way they were seen on IE 8. The 3 things you go through on the initial start are keeping accelerators, choosing addon/default search providers, and the Compatibility view option other then keeping the same home page.
So far no errors or freezeups have been seen. The one thing missing now however is no longer seeing the progress indicator on the status bar when a page is loading. Apparently MS decided to do away with that for IE 9.

IE 9 64 Bit still cannot be set as the default browser?
All I did was click on Yahoo and I got a window asking if I wanted to make IE my default browser.
That didn't happen for you?
That just makes Internet Explorer (32 bit) the default browser. If you click a link in an e-mail or any thing else that launches IE from Windows 7 the 32 bit version will launch, not the 64 bit version. Windows 7 64 bit has both versions of IE but Microsoft won't let you set the 64 bit version as default.
I found a way to make this work, no registry hacks, etc. I just renamed the Internet Explorer directory in program files (x86), then copied over the IE dir from program files. Works great, all links open in IE9 x64. This is easy to do and easy to undo. No harm, no foul.

How the 64bit flash player for the 64bit browser situation when seeing the 64bit made default? This is where you get stumped and will often need the 32bit version of IE.

No problems with it here. I don't use flash fullscreen so I can't speak to that. Java works fine too.

I haven't seen any prompting for anything other then the latest Adobe Reader since IE 9 went on suggesting it is using what was already on for runtime and flash for the 32bit anyways. We're all still waiting for a 64bit flash player however.
Surprising both the 32bit and 64bit alike do see the home page load up like lightning at times. Pow! page open! That was the first thing to note with the comparisons to be made over 8.
