I've grown to love using Opera since it is simple and fast, without all the extra junk. Now I just don't like the whole idea of extensions in it at all. I know they're just trying to gain on FF and chrome. They're moving away from one of the reasons people like it in the first place.

I may still use it, although I won't install any extensions......if that's the case, I might as well just use FF.

What puts me off Firefox is the large numbers of extensions you have to install for even basic features like smooth scrolling.
I'm enjoying the extensions in Opera, i doubt I'll ever use more than half a dozen, I've replaced some JavaScript & bookmark-lets I was using & added a couple that add useful features.

Opera 11 Beta has been getting better scores than the Alpha series did at Peacekeeper.

On my Win 7 x64 computer the difference was that Opera 11 Beta got a higher benchmark on Peacekeeper than the last 1094 build of Opera Alpha.

Chromium seems like a fair compromise. I run 8 extensions. In FF I run about 24, not including themes. I like how Opera does a lot out of the box, but it's infuriating you can't even do something like AutoCopy(at least couldn't as of v. 10 which is the latest I have installed.) Sorry but I can't abide quadrupple clicking to copy one line of text to the clipboard. My finger would give out. I've been posting about AutoCopy on Opera forums for years. It's just inane to not have such a basic feature or let an extension writer add it.

And does it still put your personal Wand info in operprefs.ini "[Personal Info]" section in clear text? Please!! Another one I posted about for year to no joy.

It's like having a great HDTV but only a rabbit ears for signal.

edit: btw I really do like Opera. I criticize it because I'm frustrated they won't fix a few annoyances. I kept with version 8.51 for years on XP just because it was so nimble. Eventually I was seduced by the Dark Side(tm) via PlugIns, AddOns and other feature creep from Maxthon to FF and now Chromium!! Just a lost soul in the Web Wilderness(tm) :)

I'm having a lazy - did they change they amount of extensions that concurrently work with the API?

ie run Ad block as well Notscript at the same time without cancelling each other out?

I used the beta of opera11 and changed to firefox. (see my post on the drop down suggestions) Been using Opera for years and was extremely disappointed in the new version. Have went back to Opera 10 and will not upgrade. I think that Opera has fallen into the herd mentality with 11 at least the beta version. opera has always stood for innovation, not being a follower. I'm sad and disappointed. Maybe they are spending too much time on their mobile stuff.
