    Windows live email contacts?

I upgraded my Windows live mail so now I have the ribbon and I can't get to my contacts. I have my contacts in a folder for safe keeping and I fire one up and say add to my contacts but it's not in the right folder and I can't even find where my contacts are suppose to be. Can anyone give me a helping hand because I'm old and lost a lot of brain cells.

If you have been signing in (either manually or automatically) each time you open WLM, your "signed-in" contact list should be visible both in WLM's "contacts" section and at the website: contacts.live.com. If you have not been signing in, then the contacts visible in the contacts setion of WLM is your "not-signed-in" contacts list. Both lists are stored on your computer but only one is visible in WLM depending on whether or not you are "signed in".

    Doesn't matter

Doesn't matter if I am sign in or not. When I add a contact it goes to my username\contacts. However that is not the right directory. So how can I make my contacts go to the right directory which I can't find or change to username\contacts?

"username/contacts" is part of Windows Explorer and historically was integrated into Windows Mail on Vista. The program called "Windows Live Mail" which is downloaded separately as part of Windows Live Essentials has it's own independent data store which is NOT integrated with usermame/contacts. So anything you add to username/contacts will not be seen in WLM contacts unless you use the import feature of WLM contacts to import from "Local Windows User". The way to add contacts to WLM is to go to the "contacts" section of WLM and either import them in bulk or add them manually one at a time.

    Hello Richard,

You can start at step 3 in the tutorial below to show you how to import the contacts from your C:\Users\(user name)\Contacts folder into Windows Live Mail if needed.

Windows Live Mail - Import Windows 7 and Vista Contacts

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
