E mail access from different places?

Got an internet/e mail account from Provider A.
    pop.xxx.nl - normal - port 25
smtp.xxx.nl - safe to specific port TLS - port 995
    Works fine at my home.

Got a cottage with an internet account from Provider B.
    pop.xxx.nl - normal - port 25 - works OK
smtp.xxx.nl - does not work whatever I try: other ports, other smtp settings etc.
Saw a msg flash by about first having to login.
But the software should do that automatically...

Does this mean I cannot address A through B?
Webmail works OK to A of course, but I prefer using the same e mail software (The Bat!).

    Anyone?

You have two providers. I like to get my personal email at work. I have my work email set the same as home using the home provider. My work place has a different provider, but that does not matter. The settings are exactly the same and it works fine in both places. Why don't you put your home settings in the cottage computer. Let us know how that works.

For me, I expected it to work as for you...
After a lot of trying I finally found something that works:

    entry is smtp.xxxx.nl
clicked the box next to it "authentication"
    new screen opened
checked the box "execute SMTP authentication (RFC2554)"
checked the box "use specific settings"
    then I could enter user/password
    OK
Now the entry " smtp.xs4all.nl" has changed to "smtp.xs4all.nl / user = XXXX"

Dunno why this did the trick, but I'm glad my worries are over !
