Windows 7: IE8 doesn't load

total confusion

Well that didn't work. I can't say that I liked the new IE9 format. If I wanted something that bare naked I would use Google Chrome. I like having the menu bar at my fingertips, not off to the side.

So I guess I run it past the Techs at Microsoft and if they can't come up with a fix then I'll have to start from scratch.
I also tried restoring to "previous version" but that didn't work either.

I REALLY appreciate all of the ideas, just wish one had worked.

Thanks

1) You need to do a repair install. This you will not loose your drivers. Repair Install

OR

2)You need to do a clean install. Get your drivers and updates on to a Flash Drive or CD/DVD so you can reinstall them faster.
This is the way to do that. SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

That is all thats left since we don't know what was messed up by the Vista IE8.

As much as it is a PITA to have to do, you're best bet is to just bite the bullet and start on the Repair Install you'll be glad you did in the long run.

It's going to eliminate all your frustration.

OMG It's fixed!!!!!!

I decided before I took the reinstall or repair route I would contact Microsoft to see if they had a solution for idiots like me. THEY DID

You guys are going to die when I tell you how easy it was to fix. Are ya ready??
Go to Tools> Internet Options> Advanced, see that little bar that says RESET?
All I had to do was hit it, restart IE and it worked.

I don't care how or what black magic was involved, it's fixed. I guess I'm not the only one who didn't realize that icon meant it was already installed. It doesn't show up in the installed programs so they said they could understand why so many people are getting confused.

Again I really appreciate all of the input from here though. Thanks
