Right!!! Thank you roncerr! didn't think about that!!!

    Download the whole suite 14.0.8117.0416!

    Download Windows Live Essentials 14.0.8117.0416

Uninstall the whole windows live essentials suite... and install the 2009 version, select the programs you want to install and that's it!

That link is for the entire 134MB file. But if you only want Mail, and not the whole thing, the web installer I posted should still work and saves downloading unneeded components:

Hi roncerr, and thanks. I'll try it.

Do the files that contain email messages, rules, etc., remain after uninstallation? Even though I exported my messages and accounts and saved everything with KLS Mail Backup, when I reinstalled 2011, all my correct accounts, folders, messages, rules, everything, appeared again.

Can't say for sure, so a backup is a good idea. But since the both programs use the same storage location for user data (within the <username>/appdata folder) and are similar to each other, I would guess the customizations and userdata would be preserved. I'm not familiar with any 3rd party backup utility since I usually just backup the Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Contacts folder and just remember how my accounts and rules are set up.

Well, I'm chickening out on this. I'll keep WLM 2011 and hope it doesn't behave weirdly too much. It seems to be OK for now, since I uninstalled and reinstalled it. We'll see how long that lasts.
