What did you try? Did you reset IE8: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset?

Internet explorer is not your whole computer.

I would personally suggest switching to the firefox web browser
Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client
, or even google chrome, I haven't personally used IE in many years now.

The only negative that is unavoidable is the removal of a few addons, like Flash or Java, but since they are a suspected cause of the problem, it's better to add them back later after you've resolved the problem. As you do the reset, a screen will appear explaining what the reset does and giving you the option to avoid changing "Personal Settings" and those personal settings are spelled out. Regardless, you can't loose your personal folders like Favorites, Docs, Pictures, etc. even if you choose to reset "Personal Settings".

Bing is just another website, different than google, so I would not expect that to make much difference, unless the only time you have browser problems is with google. I suppose their new annoying popup pictures of web pages could be taxing your system a little more.
