If it is XP it really should be running at least IE 7.
Also check to see if FF is up to date.

Old versions of the browsers might be a problem.???

Tried rebooting everything...Computer, router, modem, any switch?
Pull up a command prompt and ping "google.com" w/o quotes and separately its IP "209.85.175.147". If the IP works your internet connectivity is good. If the name works as well, then your DSN look up is good. Usually, email requires both to work, so all I can think of is try this set of tools to fix the browsers: SF IE Restorator - Troubleshooting General Issues with IE

We must of but owner is using my external drive to back up his data and then doing a clean install of 7 because there were other issues like wife and son downloading stuff that he wasn't aware of until this happened. Thanks for the help will let you know how the reinstall works out.

Somehow in the last week Win7 stopped being able to run Firefox, Chrome or IE8 (32bit) browsers; however, IE8 x64 version runs just fine. I've done all kinds of Network troubleshooting but everything there seems to be fine. I also took the suggestion to reset the IE8 settings but that didn't...
