Unwanted links in e-mail messages and websites

Greetings all and sorry in advance for the poor description of the issue, the attached picture tells the story much better than I can. I noticed that text in my yahoo mail messages is getting turned into links automatically. This appears to be happening in both Chrome and Firefox.

    1) Is this a Yahoo or a PC (some kind of background app) driven thing and does anybody know what settings to change to prevent this?

    2) Can I also disable this from happening in websites or is that just a function of the website itself? I'm referring to the way little information/advertising boxes pop up all the time on words in websites.

    Thanks!

From the picuture you are talking about craigs lists.
Craigs list has word that you click on and it gives additional information. It is normal and you cannnot change that.

Possibly the same thing is happening in mail that you receive. If the mail is from an unknown person, I would not click on anything, nor would I open the mail

Thanks for the message but please re-frame your reply and guidance with the understanding that it has nothing to do with craigslist. The content of this particular message is craigslist related correspondence but the link issue doesn't have anything to with craigslist itself. It happens with messages that originate from within yahoo mail (new, e-mail, type it, send it, etc.). Then when I open them from the sent folder, these links are appearing on words or phrases like city names, store names, "happy new year" in the example I attached, etc. and I don't want that to happen.

And on the second question, is there any way to disable or limit all the little information windows that pop up on when you hover over words/common phrases in websites?

    Thanks!

The website answer I know. It is advertisements, that the website gets paid for. If you use the services of the website it would be the equivilient of theft of service to prevent the pop ups from happening. You are using the services of the website you must pay the price of the service, by at least getting annoyed by the pop up ads.

I am not sure about the mail
