If Windows 7 has no IE in the EU

Ok, so all sources indicate that when Windows 7 ships in the UE it's not going to have Internet Explorer 8....

Does that mean it'll have IE7? If not, (here's the really nooby question) how in god's name am I supposed to get on the net to download IE8?

This may sound silly, but without an Internet Browser, how does 1 browse the Internet in order to actually acquire a browser???

    Any thoughts LOL

That's if it's offered straight away. I have a sneaking suspision that because the rest of civilization is getting IE8 then it might be missed & sit on the back-burner before someone realizes "Oh cr@p, better switch on the IE update, poor EU fools" LOL

The other thing is then, if they have it as an update then it'll be the only browser available (to start), which would then be exactly the same a shipping it with Windows 7......

You could always have a copy of firefox etc.. on another partition or hard disk and install it afterwards, that's pretty much what I do when I've reformatted.

I'm sure that once it's released in europe, it's going to be an optional update.

Well if I was really desperate I would ftp.mozilla.com download FF and use that to go get IE8. Maybe it comes in an extras (non installed) folder. Thats really tough to figure out.

I got an external drive with all my programs, files, music, photos backed up. You could just put the setup file for a browser onto a mem stick and run from that.

    +1 but i'd save a download of IE8 (i love it )

But your average joe might not think that far in advance, or have/want seperate partitions set up. I think there's more that needs thinking about when it comes to shipping/not shipping an Internet Browser.

I Think they will give you a list of options on the set up screen and you select what Internet Browser you want to download/install. Either that or buy an American version and get it pre-installed lol.

You cant totally remove Internet Explorer from Windows as it uses it for Windows Update so i have read on other forums.

Obviously a cunning plan by the EU to help us make a choice, because we cant make our own minds up anyway can we lol.
