    Adobe flash player not working properly in IE9 and Firefox.

    HI. For a few i am having problem watching Youtube videos. I can only hear the audio but the screen remains black. I tried to access the flash player settings but it is grayed out ( there is no access to it) . I have the latest flash player and my browsers are also updated. Can anyone help me with this ??

    I had this a while back. i did find it funny that if the video you want to watch is blank with audio, just hit full screen mode and its fine ;/

    I believe it has something to do with hardware acceleration being turn on in flash player, you can turn it off and that should fix the problem.

    Try the following

    • Pick a video
    • Right click on it
    • Settings
    • Display
    • Turn off Hardware acceleration

    if the Settings is grey out. then you could follow this guide to get it working.

    Try the following

    • close all browser windows;
    • open Windows Explorer;
    • type %appdata%\Adobe in the address bar;
    • delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;
    • type %appdata%\Macromedia in the address bar;
    • delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;
    • close Windows Explorer, then try to disable hardware acceleration again

    Hope it work till its fixed. did for me.

    Try using the official Adobe Flash uninstaller.

    Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

    Then reinstall the latest version 10.2.159.1 (uncheck google toolbar first if you don't want it.)

    Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player

    I've been using IE9 since its Beta days (as well as Firefox) and haven't had any Flash problems as long as I use their uninstaller before upgrading to a newer version.

    I would agree with marsmimar
    Uninstall & try again.

    * Uninstall using the appropriate uninstall tool.
    Make sure you have no windows open as you uninstall Flash.
    Exit all applications: Check the task bar and the system tray to make sure no user applications are running. For example, if you see icons for browsers or instant messaging (IM) clients such as AOL Instant Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger, right-click the icon and select either Close or Exit.

    Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

    * Download new version.
    Untick the free Google toolbar if you don't want it.

    Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player

    *Test that you have indeed installed it properly.
    Version test for Adobe Flash Player

    Find Flash Player version

    *Support.

    Hope that helps.

    Doing only the following worked for me:
    close all browser windows;
    open Windows Explorer;
    type %appdata%\Adobe in the address bar;
    delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;
    type %appdata%\Macromedia in the address bar;
    delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there;

    didn't have to disable h/w acceleration
