desktop shows automatically when replying to e-mail etc

I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit at work. Every time I got to reply to an e-mail (Thunderbird 3.1.7) my desktop shows and my mail window (and everything else) is minimized. This happens in other programs as well but I can't think of them offhand right now. Other than this, everything else seems fine with Windows and my mouse.

Welcome to Seven Forums poodlebone. You aren't by chance hovering your cursor over the show desktop in the very lower right of the taskbar? If not, lay out the exact sequence that happens, ex:

I click on reply, the page minimizes to taskbar, I can open it up again, but as soon as I click on reply, it repeats.

Whatever is happening. And also tell us is this a random occurrence, or happens every time, etc. Also if it is random to any/all programs. People often, unknowingly hover over the show desktop, and moving the cursor will again show the open application window, so forgive me if that seems asinine :)

I kn ow that the mouse cursor isn't above the show desktop button in the lower right corner. Several times I have moved the mouse cursor up top on purpose just to see if it would happen. I made sure the mouse was also moved aside so my hand wouldn't bump into it as I started to type. I notice the problem mainly when replaying to e-mail in Thunderbird but I know it's happened when replying elsewhere, such as on a forum like this. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium at home and I have never experienced this problem, only at work using 7 Professional.

The way it usually happens is I click on Reply in Thunderbird and I go to type, but the desktop shows and I have to bring Thunderbird back on top. It only shows the desktop once; once I bring the mail window back on top it's fine.
