Usually when a file causes this problem it's because that file (TXT, BAK or whatever) doesn't have a program on your computer that will open it. Also when this happens you should have an option to choose which program you want to open it. Pick Internet Explorer or whichever browser you normally use. This should fix your problem.

Here's some help: Default Programs - Associate a File Type or Protocol

To associate a program, go to Start, Control Panel, Default Programs, then ‘Associate a file type or protocol with a program.’ Follow the on-screen directions.

Then, if you haven't chosen a default email program and/or web browser, go to Start, Control Panel, Default Programs, then ‘Set program access and computer defaults.’ Follow the on-screen directions, and be sure to check: 'Enable Access' for whatever apps you are setting at the default for your email and/or browser.

Hello Zebdog,

This is a issue with your URL file extension not having a default program associated to open it with. You can use Default Programs to make your web browser (ex: Internet Explorer) to be the default program with all of it's associations set to be opened by it as well.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
