IE9 Pin Function - A Deal Breaker - How can I disable it?

A MAJOR Bug in IE9, as far as I'm concerned is the "Pin Function".

I can no longer "Drag and Drop" a Link from IE9 into an Explorer window. Neither can you "Copy & Paste" it.

Now when you drag the link from the URL bar it turns into a "Pinned" link in Explorer, only openable in IE, and with no Link location in Proprties.

Also, when you click the icon created in Explorer, it opens in a New window, which can't be dragged into my existing window.

    I HATE this....

I can understand why people may want to Pin a site to the Task bar.. But why have they Screwed with "Drag & Drop" and "Cut & Paste" for those of us that just want to store the link for future use????

ANY tweak that will disable this function would be Most appreaciated!

    Thanks,
    CS

There are 2 kinds of "Explorers" in Windows: Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. You mentioned "Explorer" 3 times. What does each refer to?

I use IE for Internet Explorer and Explorer for Windows Explorer.
    Sorry for any confusion.

I have not yet upgraded to IE9 but I've found that with IE the easiest way to get a link into Windows Explorer is to use the Favorites (star icon) to "add to Favorites", then go to the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer displayed in details mode by modified date so the most recent entry is at the top. Now that the new url is in Windows Explorer it can be moved anywhere you like.

Have you tried dragging the url from the address bar to the desktop? That may be another way to quickly get a url into Windows Explorer to be moved around later.

I use the "Favorites" folder as my Default all 10 of the different Browsers I use.. (only 3-4 of them regularly). This allows me to keep them all in sync easily.

I find the Star key too convoluted to Navigate with extensive Favorite lists like I have (Going back 20 years) Even with organized sub-Folders... and dragging to the desktop First is a real pain... especially as I use "Fences" to keep my desktop clear. .. To many steps to get the link into Explorer and too much hassle.

    But thanks anyway.

Does disabling pinning for IE9 reenable dragging and dropping of the url into Windows Explorer?

Yes it Did... Now I'm back to Drag & Drop into Windows Explorer to maintain my Favorites and keeping all Browsers in Sync.

Try it.. I was lazy and went with the dowloaded reg patches.
