Windows 7: IE refuses to work after power failer

I've think I've figured it out...

Internet Explorer 8 has a buit in security feature that disables access to the internet after a power failure or sudden software failure. The belief is that the sudden shutdown of IE8 could be the result of Virus/Malware.

I need you to open IE then click the Tools button. Does Work Offline have a tick next to it? If so, just click it an it will grant full access to the internet once more.

It's happened to me in the past and has just surfaced in my brain ops:

Ok, next on the list...Lan Settings

If you open up IE then click Tools > Internet Options > Connections then click the Lan Settings button is Use proxy server checked? If so, un-check it and click OK > OK.

I got two disks that came with the machine first vista (Loaded) and then I uprgaded to win7 home ed! which one do I use for a system repair? I dont want to re-install the entire system.

Do I need to boot into Bios and change the boot-up order and perhapes that will give me a repair option??????????

Have a look at the following and see if it helps

Wireless Network - Remove

You can then connect to the acces point as if it was brand new and has also been known to resulve connection issues. I'm starting to think that IE isn't the problem after the above processes.

You would be repairing all of Windows, not just IE.

Boot with it. (Assuming the boot order is set to boot from cd/dvd first.) Look for "repair" or go through the install up until the point where it it sees you already have Windows and asks if you want to repair it.

(This may not work if yor are using an OEM disk from the manufacturer of the computer which has been customized by them. In that case it won't try to repair, but will start over, bringing you back to the day you bought the PC.)

In the Windows 7 "Network and Sharing Center", "Change Adapter Settings" is what you want for Ethernet (wired). Look for the properties of the Ethernet adapter you are plugged in to.
