IE refuses to work after power failer

    Hi everyone,

My 64bit system died as a result of a power outage yesterday during a download
The good news is it came back ok after a restart

The bad news is that Int'Exp refuses to work even though I am connected to the net

1 I tried to reset IE through tools/options/advanced and then resetBut it refused to default to original settings.

2 I tried to uninstall the ie update through "programes and features" as per one of the directions I was given through the help section but it wasn't there!
(The idea was to uninstall ie and reinstall it again)

3 So I decided to d/l a new version of ie and install that.......Didn't work at all.
I uninstalled that and tried firefox and guess what..............Didn't work either!

Having taken all the above into account something happened to ie in the crash so when I click on ie I just get "IE cannot open web page"

I do have an install disc and various other repair disks but I sure there must be a better way to solve this...can anyone help please

SF IE Restorator - Troubleshooting General Issues with IE

However I'm concerned that a reset failed to restore to original settings. Since IE is a "Windows Feature" it can be turned on or off via the "Windows Features" item on the left menu of Programs and Features. Also, if you received IE9 as a Windows Update it may be listed under the "Installed Updates" link also on the left side menu.

It's possible the power problem may have corrupted other Windows files so you may want to try typing sfc /scannow in a command prompt window. It will attempt to repair your Windows files. If you happen to have a real Windows 7 disk, it can be used to repair Windows.

    Hi,

Can you try the following for me...

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons). It could be that a particular add-on that may have been in use at the time has failed and is causing the issue. Loading IE with no add-ons could allow you to reset using Internet Options.

Also, in order to use the SCF you need to open Command Prompt as administrator...Just type cmd into the start search box, right-click it then select Run as Administrator.

sfc needs to be run in an Elevated Command Prompt

    BTW it's sfc not sf
