IE 8 doesn't run either?
Tony.
I'm desperately clutching at straws here.....
*What changes did you make to your system between IE 9 working & not working? {SP1 installation???}
* Had you successfully used IE8 prior to IE9?
* Have you used a registry cleaner during the problem period?
* Did you check in Event Viewer for any error messages at the time?
Microsoft says they have escalated the problem to their research team and will come back to me.
I don't need IE9 - in fact I prefer either FireFox or Chrome. However I am scared that it indicates some unknown problem. Like the pilot tells you when one engine fails, we can easily fly with only three. What if the fuel is contaminated?
Tony
Is there anything logged in event viewer about the problem?
There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.
You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).
When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.
When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.
