Any particular idea why IE9 freezes when opening a new tab

I know there are a ton of different reasons why IE9 could stutter, but lately I have been running into an issue where after several hours of using IE9 it starts to stutter. It mainly occurs when I open into a new tab or when I go to type something into the Google toolbar, it just hangs for about 2-5 sec. Restarting helps for a short period of time and then it just starts doing it again. A lot of the time the browser is really the only program I have open outside of Outlook.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

My connection speed doesn't seem to be the problem.

You can try to spot errors with Event Viewer.

Open the Start Menu, and type eventvwr.msc in the search box and press enter.
If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes (Windows 7) or Continue (Vista).
In the left pane of Event Viewer, double click on Windows Logs to expand it, then right click on System and check for errors (see screenshot). If no errors related to IE will be in System, please check Application section.

Please post description of errors occurred within the described time.

Hi to anyone reading this post.

I had a similar problem (which seems to have gone away) :)

In my case, I couldn't duplicate a tab in IE9 without Explorer crashing

I ran the first link of Neutron16's post (thanks Neutron16) and my problem seems to have gone away. I've duplicated quite a few during tests and all seems fine - it seems that some addons were giving me grief.

    Thanks again Neutron16
