Default account changes

I'm using Live Mail and have several mail accounts. One account has been set as the default and is the "sending" account when I open a new form to send a message. However, recently the sending account is no longer shown as the default but rather another account. I tried making the other accounts the default but the one "problem" account still shows as the sending account. The default account is the "problem" account even though other accounts are shown as default.

In short, no matter what I have tried Live Mail has locked onto the "problem" account as the default and changing the default setting has no effect.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

The problem might be that even though you can set a "default" account, WLM opens to the last folder group you were looking at and uses that as the current default for sending. Have you tried navigating to the account you want, and then notice that the from address switches to it? Very frustrating for those of us who want to always send from the same account.

In fact, the account that was being used as the sending (not the default) account purposely had an email address that would not permit sending in order to prevent accidental use. That is how I caught the problem - mail was being rejected by the ISP's server. So, that account was never used except in special circumstances and then only after the address was fixed so that the ISP would accept it.

However, things are back to normal now. How? I got fed up with Live Mail and downloaded and installed Thunderbird. After doing so I decided to look around Live Mail some more so I uninstalled Thunderbird. The result - Live Mail worked correctly. There was something about installing and uninstalling Thunderbird that corrected the problem which I assume was in the registry.

That's all that I know.
