Hi rigz,

Try this:
Go to Firefox Options (orange Firefox Button>options>options) and click Advanced followed by Network tab.
Next to where it says "Configure How Firefox connects to the internet" click Settings.
Make sure that "Use system proxy" or "use no proxy" is checked.
Save changes and Restart Firefox.

Hope it helps

Check your proxy settings in Firefox. Maybe you are behind proxy?
