sending a hyperlink

In Windows Live Mail, when I start a new message, all choices are available to me, including "hyperlink" (I want to hyperlink a phrase in my message). But when I do a reply, the hyperlink choice is greyed out in both the message ribbon and insert ribbon. Is that normal behavior?

Hello nkoss and welcome to Seven Forums.

That doesn't sound normal and was one of the reasons I gave up using WLM. On my other email accounts I have active hyperlinks in original emails and replies, which is how I believe it's supposed to be. Only suggestion I can offer is to uninstall and then reinstall. Perhaps something got corrupted during the installation. (It didn't work for me but maybe you'll be luckier.)

How to remove and reinstall Windows Live Essentials

Suggestion only :

Run a system file check to look for corrupt files and possibly repair them if found.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

When I click on a link, the new window opens up, but nothing happens. This happens in my browser, in programs, and any place where there is a hyperlink. However, there is one place where the links DO work and that is my desktop shortcuts. Any ideas? I am using Windows 7 - 64 bit.
