Windows 7: Accept cookies sent to IE9, but only keep them till the end of session

Accept cookies sent to IE9, but only keep them till the end of session

In IE9, I know I can block all permanent cookies and accept all session cookies by using the "Advanced Privacy Settings" dialog. I also can instruct IE9 to allow cookies that are explicitly put into the list in the "Per Site Privacy Actions" dialog.

But that's not good enough for me.

I don't really want to "block" permanent cookies. I want to accept them all, but only keep them till the end of the session (like Firefox). In other words, I want to turn permanent cookies into session cookies.

Can that be achieved? A user script, maybe?

Edit: I still want to keep permanently those cookies from sites listed in the "Per Site Privacy Actions" dialog. So I can't instruct IE9 to delete all cookies at exit.

Hi drkh.
Here's the answer: Internet Explorer - Browsing History - Delete on Exit
Hope that helps!

Hello, Wallonn,

Thank you very much for answering. But I still want to keep those cookies from sites listed in the "Per Site Privacy Actions" dialog. So I can't instruct IE9 to delete all cookies at exit.

I did not fully describe my problem. Sorry.

Hi drkh.
Just bookmark those sites - save them as favorites. And keep "preserve favorite website data" box checked, as showed below.
Hope that helps.

You can also use CCleaner to delete/save cookies you chose.

Hi, guys,

Very sorry for replying so late. I just forgot I had posted this question because I downloaded FireFox and have got immersed in it since then.

@ Wallonn,

keeping the sites that my cookies point to as Favorites is a wonderful idea. I'll do that. Thanks.

@ logicearth,

Thanks for the English version. It does help.

@ Britton,

CCleaner is an old friend of mine with whom I have not gotten in touch for quite a long while. Indeed, I should pay him more visits. Thank you very much for reminding me.

With the IE settings I have and by using CCleaner to clean the cookis I choose work well for me. For example by saving the Seven Forum cookies I am logged in by opening the forum page. Other sites save my username.
