Sharing FFox bookmarks - OS X and W7

My laptop machine is MacBook Air which is configured to be a dual boot system for Mac OS X and W7. I installed Mozilla Firefox on both OSes. My question is if there is a way to let the two FFoxes share a common bookmarks file so that either one can update the file.

In Firefox click on the Menu choose options then the Sync tab & your bookmarks, passwords etc are backed up on the Firefox servers
    No need for extensions

with xmarks you can log into your account and access your bookmarks from anywhere and also merge bookmarks from all your pcs so that they all display your bookmarks the same and you can share your bookmarks with other people (not sure why you would want to). its handy for removing duplicate bookmarks with its handy dup removal tool.and more

What I wanted to do is to sync the two bookmarks, one on OS X and another on W7 that are on the same laptop machine. I am doing syncing bookmarks on W7 and XP on the same machine which does not require involving a remote server. I wondered if it could be done in a similar way but that does not seem feasible.

I reviewed infomation on the Xmarks at its website and could not find any mention of security, but I would think any data must be encrypted before it is sent to the remote server.

It is just dismaying that I have to use a remote server for syncing bookmarks even though the two bookmarks are on the same machine.

Anyway, I decided to try Firfox's built-in functionality first.

Syncing is pretty quick & has the advantage that you still have your bookmarks if your PC dies on you..
    Manual backup
Click the Bookmarks button on the right side of the navigation toolbar (Windows XP: click the Bookmarks menu) and select Show All Bookmarks to open the Library window.
In the Library window, click the Import and Backup button and then select Backup.... The Bookmarks backup file name window will appear.
