Pressing Create Mail button in Win Mail causes crash

    Hi All

I have moved to Win 7 64 bit and wanted to keep Win Mail. I used the forum Tutorial to install the WM. Everything works well apart from the fact that when I press Create Mail the prog crashes. Strangely I can reply to mail Ok and that is sent so the Server connections must be good.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Hi Kestrel2010, welcome to 7Forums.
Why not use the latest WLM, it works in the same way only better.

    Hi Roadrunner

Thanks for your reply. :) However, it bugs me that it WinMail all works fine except I can't get the create button to give me a page to compose my email.

I was considering removing all references to WLM in the registry because I think there may be a conlict with WLM.

    Any comments?

    Thanks

Hi Kestrel2010, I can't remember if you are required to sign in to Win Mail or you just add your account details. If you decide to go for W Live Mail 2011, I suggest you get a Windows Live ID by creating a Hotmail dot com account.
Here's how mine is set. I sign in to WLM using my WL ID then remove it, I now add my Gmail account accessed by POP3. Gmail is set to allow POP only and to archive my mail when accessed by POP, that way I can do as I like in WLM with my mail without loosing it, it stays on Gmail till I decide when its deleted.
In WLM as I have signed in it remembers my safe & blocked senders, and as all my contacts are there also, I don't lose them. I only need to tap the first letter of a contact to add there address.
WLM can handle any account, POP or IMAP, I prefer POP.
If you do decide to upgrade to WLM 2011, first you should use Revo Uninstalled Portable. Read this first. Revo Uninstaller.PDF
    Hope I missed nothing.

    Hi Roderunner

I appreciate your efforts to persuade to see the light and move to WLM.

I had a look at the registry and could not see any obvious solutions. If I have not found a solution by Sunday eve I will give in and follow your advice.

Thanks once again for all the detailled info . It may well come in handy.
