I am signed into Windows Live (I think) and can't get to websites

I go to www.answers.microsoft.com however in the last few days it redirected me to a Windows Live type site https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=...wlid&id=273572

I don't know what to do. I have reset IE8 and have used sys restore still it connects to that Live site. Any thoughts?

Hi bru, its asking you to create a Windows Live ID or sign in, if you have one. It depends on what your modus operandi is, in if you need one or not.

    P.S.

I have a windows live ID and use it for the answers site. But the site it takes me to has no way to specifically log in. It seems like an error site and it is https:// It's like it is redirecting me there for some reason.

What I have found is that if I turn Protected Mode off I can get to the www.answers.microsoft.com site no problem. But why has this changed?

p.s. No on the soda, actually wasn't aware of that.

Kind of strange because earlier today on another computer I decided to check the site and it worked just fine. When I got home and it wasn't working on my system that started my odyssey. Geesh. Keeping fingers crossed this one is solved.
