I use IE9 all the time, and I only see the advertisement twice. The first time I load Google it shows, then I log in to my Google account, go back to the home page, and X it one more time. I never see it again.

Errrr... I actually fixed this on my workstation at the office, but I'll have to go back through my notes. I'll be up there tomorrow so I'll post whatever I came up with. It was pretty annoying for me as well.

@Gornot: Sweet. Trade that guy computers then.
Hell, I know what I did. I saved the search page on another computer, copied it to a flash drive, then saved it on the PC with the annoying box problem, then opened it by double clicking.
Select "Use Current Page" and apply. It's not exactly a fix, but it gets rid of the box.
I set IE9 to Compatibility View. The X is now active, so I was able to close the install google chrome message.
After trying all of the suggestions that I could understand concerning this popup I final hit on an idea:I went to the desktop icon for internet explorer, which in my case,is Google and changed the name to Home Page.Poof........Chrome message is gone and hasn't shown it's face again.Don't really understand but to get rid of that irritation I'll wait to hear from someone smarter than me to explain it.
i just clicked your link, and that box was there and when i closed the tab and opened up a new one, and clicked the home button, since my homepage is set to google and the box wasn't there i only had to click the X once and it seems to stick for me
Seems Chrome only works in one narrow pass:Google Chrome.Does that make sense?
