Empty folders in Windows Live Mail

Hello, hope someone can help me please.
I have been using my laptop for over 1 year and I have not changed anything recently.
My problem is that when I go into my email program all the folders are empty. This has happened twice within the last 2 weeks. They were not empty when I closed the program. They were no where near full.
My server is BTinternet. I do not leave messages on the server. I am using windows live mail. I also use Mailwasher, but have done so since I started the account. Thanks.

Lets take it one step at a time.
You setting might be in a different place, but make sure hide read messages is not activated.

Thank you "Hide read messages" is not activated.
What I think is signifient, is that it is all my folders that are empty. ie InBox, sent items, deleted items etc. and the fact that it has just started to be a problem, after all thsi time. Thanks again.

It would be my guess that this is due to some action of either
Your email provider, if mail was also left on the server as well as in your Live Mail
Your software mail washer- It could be scheduled as a task in task scheduler
    or
Your anti virus delted it as spam or something worse in error

May I suggest, that you so to search
    type msconfig
    in msconfig
    go to
startup items and make sure mail washwer is not checked.

    Thank you again.
My mail is set not to be left on the server. I am using WLM but not a Hotmail or web based account.
I have checked the Sceduled Tasks and nothing is shown.
Mailwasher is not shown in the startup in msconfig. but in the settings of the programme it is set not to run on startup.
When checking my emails, I start mailwasher and then delete the spam etc which is then not downloaded into the programme. Then I go into the mail account to read the messages that I have selected. As I said, twice in the last 2 weeks, when I have gone into the account ALL my folders, not just my InBox, are empty. Today, I lost 3 emails which I fortunately had read and about 6 that were in my sent folder.
The time before that I lost quite a few.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Make sure that your anti virus is not set to scan mail for virus or spam, etc.

    Suggestion :

Open WLM > Remove your Mail.btinternet account > exit WLM
    Re-open WLM > re-enter Mail.btinternet account settings

Hello again richc46. My antivirus software is MS Security Essentials. However I cannot see an antivirus programme scanning and /or deleting my sent emails.

t-4-2. I will do as you suggest and see how I go. The problem is that this is does not occur everytime I close and then open WLM.
I think perhaps that if this does not solve the problem I will just have to live with it. I could try uninstalling and then reinstalling WLM.

    Thanks again for your help.
