Advice greatly appreciated.. routing gmail to Livemail?

I just purchased a dell inspiron windows 7. Im using gmail but would like to route it to a simpler email program. Important fact..im not very good on a computer but i try my best to research & make basic changes on my own. Anyway i was reading that Windows 7 does not have outlook express and therefore routing my gmail to windows Livemail is the way to go. I just had a website built my computer guy said I should use Outlook (not outlook express which I know is not avail) & that if I had Office (I think he said Office) that Outlook would be included. I told him i had read about using windows Livemail & he said they were both good but that Outlook is the way to go. I told him i would try to do it myself (since this guy charges quite a bit plus Im up for the challenge).. I saw some detailed clips on youtube on setting up the windows livemail & setting the gnail settings however before i start messing around id like to get some good advice as to what program would be best to rout my gmail to. Is Outlook a good option? or Windows live mail? thanks so much for taking the time to read my question.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You can configure Microsoft Outlook to pick up your Gmail.

You can also use Windows Live Mail.

    Economic issue :

Microsoft Outlook is part of the MS Office suite ( it does NOT come with Home and Student version ). They are expensive to buy.
    Microsoft Office 2010 Suites - Office.com
Click The Pricing Information and you'll know why.

Windows Live Mail is free. It is introduced by Microsoft to replace Windows Mail. Needless to say, it is supported by Microsoft.
