I've had it with Firefox. It just doesn't function properly any more. 7 years loyal but it just doesn't cut the mustard with me sorry.

Firefox is great. Sure, Mozilla's sudden urge to upgrade the version every few months is annoying, but I still prefer it over other browsers. But if you are really sick of Firefox, try Chrome. May I ask what's not functioning?

It keeps losing my setup and sometimes opens 3 or 4 or even 5 Windows of firefox each with a blank Tab.

If you don't have special personal profile, you can delete all firefox folders:
Uninstall>delete all firefox folders in AppData and program files, then reinstall, firefox should be installed properly.

Sevener, could you tell me what makes my firefox 4 eat up all available memory and hang? (It's such a pain, I use it these days only when there's a large file to download; for anything else, it's Chrome.)

Well, I don't know about you people, but my Firefox is just the web-browser incarnation of the phrase "Red tape". It hangs up all the time (yes I know I already said it, but it's worth mentioning twice! :) ) and well, I must say, from being a big Firefox fan, I've turned into a Chrome-maniac!

PS: If anyone could help me with this issue, I'd be eternally grateful. I still like Firefox, and it seems like a waste to throw such a fine fella away.

Maybe you have multiple extensions installed, many old profiles in the AppData folder, conflict between old versions, toolbars,...etc.

You are using FF4, why you don't update to FF5?
I think, this is the occasion to make a clean installation.
You can unisntall and delete everything related to firefox in:
    >Program files>Mozilla>firefox.
    >AppData>Local>Mozilla>firefox
    >AppData>Roaming>Mozilla>firefox

So, uninstall, delete the folders above and reinstall.
Again, you should be aware about your profile and personal customization that you may wish to keep.
If you wish to conserve special customization in FF, you should backup your profile in the Firefox folder (in the Local Data) and copy it into the new folder after installation.

I also was fan of Chrome but I returned to FF! I loved Chrome skin and omnibar function but there are extensions that provide these features in FF. So, I came back to FF!
