go to programs and features in control panel, clik on turn windows features on or off, uncheck IE, reboot...

Windows Features - Turn On or Off

    OR

    Internet Explorer 9 - Uninstall

Unless your Windows 7 computer was bought in Europe where WIN 7 computers do not come with any browser, IE 8 is the browser that comes with your computer.

In that case, you can NOT uninstall IE8. You can disabled it via Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off > uncheck Internet Explorer 8 > OK

If you had installed IE9, then you can uninstall it (IE9), and the system will revert itself back to IE8 automatically.

    How to uninstall IE9 :
Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > left coulmn, View Installed Updates > scroll to find Windows Internet Explorer 9 > right click, click uninstall.

Not even in the EU, IE isn't "missing", it's simply had the add/remove features treatment (the .exe files are removed, and entry points are not visible - the rendering engine is still there, though).
