Firefox freezes after being left idle

    Hi all,

I am using FF 5 currently and every time I leave the browser for a few minutes and then 'wake' it from being idle, I get a delay until it starts to respond to anything.

It seems that this problem started when I first upgraded from FF 3 to 4 and has been going on since then.
I have tried to disable some add-ons to test if this would make a difference, have created a new profile, cleared cache, history etc. but nothing seems to keep the browser from going into this 'hibernation mode'.

I really do like FF per se, but this issue is driving me nuts. Has anyone had the same experiences with FF and can maybe help me with some advise on how to fix this.

    thanks so much in advance!

PS: I use windows 7 (64 bit) and run the FF 64 bit version with it.

Hi wheelz, welcome to 7 forums.
Download Revo Uninstaller Portable - Download and use it with default settings to remove FF. Reboot before re install.

    Hi Roderunner,
thanks for your input. have uninstalled once before but will try again, using the software you recommend. maybe my own uninstall left too much old FF files on there, to make a positive difference. I will report back, once I am done. thanks again:)

Update: Used the software to uninstall FF again and also cleaned out everything related to it. Re-installed and lo and behold, no more non-responsiveness. Thanks again:)
