I've just discovered another issue, when I go to Edit a post and click Go Advanced, it won't go advanced. Just sits and nothing changes.

Gary, have you tried creating a new user and see if you get the same behavior there?

I'm in a new standard user acct now and the same issues persist.
All with IE8 default settings. On my way to yet another install I reckon.

Worth trying the Repair Install if you're going to go there. A Guy

Repair would make my day if it works. I've managed to install and spend a few hours configuring some very large programs.

Repair install did nothing for the issue. IE 64 still works fine, did not have the issues untill the clean install.

Just curious, have you tried IE9?

No I haven't. I have used it with Win8 test OS and don't like it at all. IE8 was just fine till the clean install.

I sus[pect there is something I have ticked that shouldn't be, and I and all of you good helpers are missing.

IF all addons are disabled in IE 8, it is fine. I need to have some like Norton Safe Search and tool bar, Java, Flash, etc. Anyway when I re-enable them all is fine for about 2 minutes, then it reverts to this stupid behavior.

The error I posted earlier seems to point to this site or vbulletin's CSS or JS code.

Thank you all who have tried.

We all have our preferences, I was just wondering.

Try getting rid of java completely instead of just disabling it.

Derek, I just installed 91 updates including IE9...problem remains still.

Won't getting rid of Java disable a lot of functionality? such as some links won't be clickable and message settings in yahoo mail won't work.
