Wordpress IE 11 / Chrome & Firefox Compatibility

    Hi All,

I thought about coming here before a wordpress support site as this forum has always been kind to me :)

Basically i have a wordpress site at work (internal access only) and i find it displays great for Chrome / Firefox but not Internet Explorer (especially IE 11).

I have added the following photos to help show you how it displays... i'm guessing it's something CSS related for IE but don't know anything about CSS.

Essentially Chrome and Firefox displays how it is in the editor but IT doesn't?

Anyone know how to resolve this?

    Regards,

    Hi,
I'm not entirely sure what the issue is that your seeing ?
Are you saying you can't access the tools listings in wordpress ?

Before you go to wordpress.com and login,
Access the comp-view settings Alt+TB and Uncheck all 3 listings on the bottom/ Use Microsoft comp-view lists and for intranet..
Then Clear your cache Alt+TD Uncheck the top box and check everything else although you can uncheck form fills,
    Click on Delete.
Deleting your browser history will clear any comp-view lists downloaded automatically,

If still no joy use the F12 key,
On the left column scroll down the icons list to the bottom one Emulations,
You can first try switching the document mode to ie10...
Or switch the User agent string to ie10,
Or just cut to the chase and roll your browser back to ie10 the more stable version

Hello Jamie Did you, or someone at your company code the site, or was it just a stock template? This is an issue with the site for everyone in IE11, or just an issue you are having?

    Hi,

It is an issue for everyone, it was actually me that created it lol
The wordpress side of it is fine, i think it may be the theme i created using artisteer that is causing the issues.

Only seems to be IE though, other browsers display it fine... well if i change the way it looks in the editor then IE can look ok but then the rest don't ha ha.

it seems to be the way IE and other browsers display the extra line breaks in the editor.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

    Hi ThrashZone,

    Hi,
About all you can do with ie11 is add the site to your compatibility view list to see if it displays better,
Alt+TB or Gear symbol and comp-view settings if your already on the site with the issues the site will already be listed in the add box,
Click on the Add button and close the popup window,
    Cheers.

    Unfortunately compatibility mode doesn't help

    Wordpress and IE

I'm no expert on Wordpress but I have read that many websites do not identify IE11 as the browser being used and thus content can display incorrectly.

Have a quick look at the following:

    https://gyorgybalassy.wordpress.com/...-agent-string/

Internet Explorer 11?s user-agent string: What does it mean? | NCZOnline

    User-agent string changes (Windows)

Also try visiting this site using IE:

    Whats My User Agent?

    What does this mean?

Well if you inspect the scripts on your site and find that the browser detect .js hasn't been updated - that could be the issue.

How to fix it? You'd need to get advice from other members who have experience of this kind of thing!

    Hi,
What were the results switching the user agent string or document mode using the F12 key to access developer tools,
Possibly document mode to ie10 will prove successful ?
