    Your specs are some what confusing in the memory department, (Used 503gb / Free 79.1gb) I have never known going to a restore point taking over 2 hours.

    Well for a while now its up to 172GB free currently.

    Anyway, my IE is starting to slow down again, though currently not as bad as before but still, but since it's been a little while within the same day, I have pinpointed what has happened since the restore and now:

    - After it was restored, and because I had to got to bed (I went at 10:30am!), I did a shut down (usually do this) and it said it needed to do a Windows Update. The update it did was, on the date of 8/28/11: this: August 2011 cumulative time zone update for Windows operating systems

    - At 10:19pm the same day, Windows Security Essentials needed an update, and thus it was updated. Information here:
    Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

    = Now, starting from let's say 1:30am, give or take, IE on searching/browser (going up or down on a page isn't slow), and my computer is again sounding like it's working on something that it shouldn't be as I'm just looking at an internet page and nothing else. I did look at my task manager, and what its saying is that my CPU Usage ranges from 0-18%, and my Memory was at 1.70GB, but browsing went up to 1.75 to even 2.82GB. Plus, I did do the command prompts, and nslookup was quick, but for the tracert, I decided to make a picture of it and post it here as I don't know how to read it, but I know you guys can.

    - Then, at 2:52am, I tried Microsoft Security Essentials and its the same thing. Close to two minutes in on the quick scan, it froozed at \\.\C:\. What is \\,\C:\?

    Just in case: the IE problem is more with loading time, with suggestions from search engines being affected, and the slowness sometimes causes messages that the site is not responding and needs to be recovered. But once its loaded, everything seems to be fine.

    I wonder if its a virus or something is currupted. I also wonder if it was the updates. Something needs to be done, checked and looked at, maybe reinstalled over the currupted theory, because I'm starting to get sick of this.

    Please help.

    EDIT: That's weird. It's 4:30am, and the slow problem has...stopped. Why...?

    Just a thought from a non expert, (me). I would check again to see if something is running in the background. Check msconfig for start ups. Use Sysinternals Process Explorer, it will show you a lot of information on what is or is not running.
    Also I would check for any program set to scan auto or check for updates auto.

    Do I type it as msconfig.startups?

    Just press the Windows key, (lower left of keyboard) and the R key. Type msconfig and hit enter. A the top you will see start up. Every thing that has a check mark is starting at boot.

    The 172 gb free ram is not real. You might be looking at your Hard Drive free space. Use the Windows flag and the R again and type in resmon. You will be able to see how much ram you have and how it's being used.

    The 172GB Free was my hard drive I was referring to.

    On Start Task Manager, it does list things that are currently running and what they are, and I wanted to list them but it's a little too much and I don't have time right now, but some of them were: SamSs (Security Manager), Power (from DcomLaunch group), Plugplay (from DcomLaunch group), DcomLaunch, WinHttp Web Proxy Auto Discovery Service, WdiServiceHost (Diagnostic Service Host), nsi (Network Store Interface Serice), netprofm (Network List Service), etc.

    But I did do startups, and what's checked are: HD Audio Control Panel, Adobe Updater, Microsoft Sercurity Cilent, Google Toolbar Notifier, Windows Live Messanger, Gateway Backup, AMD Dual-Core Optimizer, Quicktime, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, and iTunes.

    There are things listed as running under services too, and that's a long list to sort out too.

    Also, I started Process Explorer and it lists things under dark pink, purple, but one is yellow and that's Acer from Gateway Updater. I don't know what to look for, and I know you're an non-expert, but I'm hoping for someone to help me on this because I don't know what to do or how to read this.

    * Re Win7...
    Was it preinstalled on the computer when you bought it?
    {or did you do a clean install of Win7?
    or did you upgrade from Vista to Win7?}

    * Are you running 32 or 64- bit?

    Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

    Re IE9...

    Troubleshooting steps. Ignore any you have already tried

    *Does the behavior persist if you start IE (32-bit) in No Add-ons mode?

    Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons)

    * Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings & reboot?

    Reset Internet Explorer settings

    * Boot the computer in clean boot and check if the issue persists.

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 to boot the computer in normal startup.

    * Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this issue?
